Choosing your opal pendant

• Black opal — rarest and most valuable, from Lightning Ridge.
• White (light) opal — soft, classic colour from Coober Pedy.
• Boulder opal — bold, earthy, unique stone to stone.
• Crystal opal — vivid colour right through the stone.
• Solid vs composite — a solid is a single natural stone; doublets and triplets layer genuine opal for a brighter, more affordable piece. We always tell you which you’re buying.

A pendant is a lovely way to wear opal day to day — hanging clear of knocks, it’s gentler on the stone than a ring (opal sits around 5.5–6.5 on the hardness scale). Choose from solid 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold (yellow, rose or white), platinum or sterling silver — or gold-plated silver (yellow or rose) for a more affordable finish, on a chain to suit.

A note on care: solid metals carry our 12-month workmanship warranty. Plating is a surface finish — it naturally wears with use and may need re-plating over time — so it’s covered for 3 months, excluding normal wear and tear. We recommend having settings checked once a year.
